Whatever heating you already run
Some houses are on Hive. Some have a thermostat in every bedroom. Some have neither — just radiators. We work with that. Hive and room thermostats can follow occupancy as they stand. If there are no individual controls, radiator controllers go on the radiators so each room can still be heated only when it is occupied. The software is the same idea either way: the booking diary decides, not a guess.
Occupancy is the switch
Hotel occupancy heating means the room is treated as occupied, arriving, departing, or vacant. Heat follows that. Vacant rooms are not left on guest comfort. That is the whole product, and it is why the energy bill moves.
Checkout, frost, and a safe winter
On checkout the room goes to frost mode — not guest heat, not a forgotten setpoint from last night. In winter a safe mode keeps rooms from getting too cold, so you are not choosing between a huge bill and a frozen house.
Last-minute bookings and the next few days
Walk-ins and late online bookings still arrive to a room that is coming up. If there is a booking in about three days, warmup starts on its own. Staff do not need a separate heating ritual for every change in the diary.
Breakfast area heating
Communal breakfast space is often left on a timer as if the house is always full. It is not. If no guests are staying, it stays off in the morning. If people are in, it turns on a couple of hours before breakfast so the room is ready when they come down — and not six hours before.

- What happens to the breakfast room when the house is empty?
- It does not heat in the morning. If guests are staying, it comes on a couple of hours before breakfast. That is another quiet saving most inns never look at.
- Is this only for small hotels?
